Gurung fails to improve personal best again

KATHMANDU, July 31: Nepal No 1 swimmer Shirish Gurung failed to improve his personal best time in 100m freestyle during the FINA World Swimming Championships being held in Barcelona, Spain. Gurung hit the wall in 1 minute 2.12 seconds in the event on Wednesday whereas his personal best is 1 minute 1 second.



Gurung finished 80th among the 86 swimmers that completed in the event. Anand Lepcha holds the national record of 58.84 seconds in 100m freestyle which he had set in Islamabad in 1989. Gurung had also fallen short of achieving his personal best in 200m freestyle at the championship. [break]
