KATHMANDU, July 10: Green ICT Application Challenge has called for entries to find the best and most innovative idea for a climate change focused application. The challenge has been launched by International Telecom Union (ITU) in order to use technology to combat climate change and energy crisis.
According to a press statement, participants have to submit their concept papers for an ICT application that deal with energy management, water management and sanitation, waste management, transport and mobility, urban planning, including smart buildings, adaptation to climate change, smart societies, community engagement and environmental education till July 15. “The winner of the challenge will be announced on August 26 and awarded in ceremony September 18. The winner of the challenge will be awarded a cash prize of $5,000 and will be invited to present his/her paper in the third Green Standards Week being held from September 16 to 20 in Madrid, Spain,” said Pankaj Chhetri, ITU ambassador for Nepal, in the statement.
