A meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has decided to organise different programmes to highlight the importance of the Republic Day on May 28, 29 and 30 in the country and at Nepali embassies and missions abroad.[break]
As part of the Republic Day celebrations, the meeting decided to publish supplements in newspapers, hold interactions in TVs and radios and awareness songs competition in Radio Nepal and organise Dipawali in the evening on May 28.
On May 29, a Republic Day celebration function will be organised at Tundikhel that will be broadcast live in Nepal Television and Radio Nepal.
On May 30, awards and certificates will be distributed to the winners of different competitions and organise Dipawali in the evening.
To mark the day outside the Kathmandu Valley, morning processions, sports tournaments, interactions, cultural programmes and other functions will be organised.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Nepal made a call to strengthen democracy and republic to make sure that Nepalis will not have to fight again for Loktantra and republic.
He directed officials concerned to immediately complete the construction of a monument being built at Ratnapark as a symbol of republic.
The prime minister stressed the need of consensus among all political parties to resolve all political problems.
