The body of Upadhyaya, a resident of Dodhara-9, was found in Bayalband Community Forest near the Indo-Nepal border in Dodhara-9. His motorcycle (Ma 1 Pa 2778) found around 500 meters away.[break]
His left eye was badly damaged and had wounds face and different parts of body. The motorcycle key was found in the inner pocket of his trousers.
“There are no signs of struggle near the spot where his body was found. So, he may have been dumped there having been killed elsewhere,” opined Upadhyaya´s elder brother Megh Raj. “Indians may be involved in his murder as the body was found near the border,” Megh Raj added.
Upadhyaya, 41, had been involved with the association for a long time and had been working as a technical assistant for the past 14 years. Upadhyaya had left his office Thursday afternoon saying he would return soon. He had left both his cell phones at home and gone out of the office soon after reaching there. He had left even his helmet at the office while going out.
“We had gone to Dodhara-8 to distribute allowances to the elderly, widows and others,” VDC Secretary of Dodhara Sher Bahadur Buda said, “Office assistant Tul Bahadur Bogati and Upadhyaya were the only staffers present at office.”
Govt staffers announce indefinite shutdown
Government staffers in Kanchanpur district have announced an indefinite shutdown of all offices in the district except the educational institutions protesting Upadhyaya´s murder.
A meeting of the staffers held at the District Development Committee also demanded formation of a probe committee and compensation for the family. Thee staffers have also demanded that the deceased be declared a martyr.
