Govt asks Maoists to return remaining weapons

KATHMANDU, April 4: A cabinet meeting Thursday asked CPN-Maoist leaders to return to the government the weapons that are still in their possession by mid-May.



A total of 32 weapons, then held by the Maoist army, later used for providing protection to some CPN-Maoist leaders are remaining to be returned. If not returned within the timeframe, the government will declare the possession of the arms as illegal.



Earlier, the army integration Special Committee had decided to ask the government to issue a directive to this effect. Today’s meeting also formed a secretary level committee for management of Maoist cantonments.
