Bhim Bahadur Khatri, officer of Gorkha Municipality, said none fo the shops were following standard specified by the government.
"Almost all the shops were found substandard meat products. They were found slaughtering animals in a most unhygienic condition," said Rupesh Shrestha, a veterinary doctor with District Livestock Service Office. "The shops also didn´t have freezers and proper slaughterhouse. They also didn´t have proper sewage facility."
According to Khatri, the team has asked owners of the meat shops to furnish clarification at the municipality and asked them to adhere to standard specified by the government at the earliest. "We will take action against the owners of meat shops who do not adhere to the standard," added Khatri.
Meanwhile, owners of meat shops have requested the officials of municipality to arrange a hygienic slaughterhouse for them.
