During the meeting, Goldstein highlighted importance of early closure of outstanding issues of peace and constitution writing and shared features of WB´s Interim Strategy for Nepal for 2012 and 2013. [break]
While informing that the WB´s financial commitment to Nepal has more than tripled over the past five years, she stated that the bank would support the Nepal government in addressing short-run economic challenges in the areas of fiscal management and the financial sector.
Goldstein also introduced Tahseen Sayed, the World Bank´s new Country Manager for Nepal, to PM Bhattarai. As Goldstein is based in Dhaka, Sayed would lead the bank´s day to day operations in Nepal from mid-January.
According to a statement, Sayed joined the World Bank in 1996.
She has over fifteen years of experience in project management and had moved to the bank´s Bangladesh Office in December 2008 as Operations Advisor and Deputy Country Director.
