KATHMANDU, June 17: Gold and silver traders staged a protest on Tuesday in New Road, Kathmandu, opposing the government's imposition of a luxury tax on gold.
The Federation of Nepal Gold Silver Gem and Jewelry Associations has urged the government to review the decision to impose value-added tax (VAT) on diamonds and gems and luxury tax on gold.
They have been demonstrating against the luxury tax on gold and the value-added tax (VAT) imposed on diamonds and gemstones, demanding their removal.
