Currently, there is almost no load shedding although the country is officially facing four hours of power cuts daily.
Before this, the project was generating only 73,000 units daily owing to low level of water in the reservoir. Currently, water level in the reservoir is 1494.15 meters. A few weeks back, the water level was 492.79 meters. The project cannot generate electricity if the water level reaches 1480 meters.
The reservoir can accommodate water up to 1530 meters. At the end of last monsoon, the reservoir was replenished up to 1509 meters.
But the water level could go higher this year as it is increasing daily by 10 centimeters.
The extended load shedding this year compared to last year was largely due to the inability of last monsoon to replenish water in the reservoir to its optimum level.
Kulekhani water level likely to be lower than last year
