KATHMANDU, July 10: The political equation in the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) is now clear: The Gachchhadar faction is in majority as opposed to Yadav-faction´s claim.

The faction led by Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar has succeeded to garner the support of 18 central committee members, just a majority in the 35-member central committee before the rival factions started different political journeys on June 4. This means that the another faction led by Chairman Upendra Yadav is now in minority. [break]

The latest situation developed on Thursday after two central committee members in the Yadav-faction -- Kabuli Paswan and Jaya Prakash Yadav -- changed the camp, according Ramjanam Chaudhary, the party´s chief whip and a power member in the Gachchhadar faction.

On Thursday, the Gachchhadar faction furnished the support of the 18 central committee members before the Election Commission. The move has led the Gachchhadar-faction very close to its claim of being official MPRF.

“With this development, we are the official MPRF,” said Chaudhary.

But Jaya Prakash Parasad Gupta, party´s co-chairman in the faction led by Upendra Yadav, claimed that the Gachchhadar-faction is still in minority as the seven leaders out of 18 were already expelled from the party.

He further said that the MPRF central committee has 42 members and the Gachchhadar faction is still in minority.
