“We’re heavily concerned with ´ignorance´ and ´complacency´ of leaders. We therefore try and empower young people to take action at their individual and personal level. For example, responsible waste disposal, saying NO to plastic bags and adopting responsible behaviors that include challenging leaders and politicians along with taking responsibility of one´s own future as well,” so stated the press release.[break]
The activities include a quiz competition for students. Among the participants, 30 winners with successful answers will be provided with “grafted fruit tree saplings” which they have to take home and monitor the progress and report back to CORE.
The founding president of CORE, Salina Tamang, informed, “If they report to us that they aren’t able to take proper care of the fruit plants, we’ll hand them over to another student. This will bring a sense of environmental responsibility among the young.”
Nepal’s prominent rap artist, Nirnaya Da´ NSK, will grace the event to hand the saplings over to the
students.
