The incident occurred when a group of drunken youths attacked at an election assembly on Sunday evening organized by the Nepali Congress at Galeswor shouting slogans against the UML. [break]
UML-aligned Youth Association Nepal Myagdi President Dinesh KC has sustained injury on his head.He was airlifted to Kathmandu as the doctors failed to carry out operation in Pokhara. His treatment is underway at Kathmandu-based Neuro Hospital.
Similarly, the NC-aligned Tarun Dal cadres Myagdi Bishal Baruwal, Prem Bahadur Rokka and Ekendra Purja have also been injured in the incident. The police have arrested Dipen Purja and Gopal Pun.
The NC district committee blamed UML for the assault. The UML refuted the allegation stating that it was a ploy against the UML. Following the incident the local police have arrested two others from the spot.
“A group of people tried to bring halt the NC election assembly, which preceded the clash,” Deputy Superintendent of Police, Krishna Bahadur Palli Magar told Republica Online. He told that the investigation is underway.
