UPCN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal welcomed Pokharel and others to his new party amid a program held at the party’s headquarters at Peris Danda. Pokharel was elected to the then House of Representative as a CPN-UML lawmaker from Gulmi Constituency No 3 in the 1995 mid-term polls. After the UML’s split, he had been associated with CPN –ML. Also joining the Maoist party were UML leaders Ganesh BK and Baburam Kharel. [break]
