Former NOC boss Sharma convicted

KATHMANDU, September 2:  The Special Court on Thursday convicted Nepal Oil Corporation´s former General Manager Madan Raj Sharma of corruption.

A three member bench of the Special Court comprising Gauri Bahadur Karki, Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise concluded that Sharma misappropriated Rs 20.2 million abusing his position. [break]

As per the Special Court verdict, Sharma will be detained for a year.

The court has also ordered Sharma to repay the misappropriated amount. It has also ordered the government to seize properties he has accumulated unlawfully.

The CIAA had filed a charge sheet against Sharma claiming that he misappropriated Rs 24.6 million.
