Addressing a meeting organized by the party in the capital to discuss on the roles of former CA members in the changed political context, the NC leaders also criticized the top leadership of the party for failing to have any clear vision to resolve the current impasse.
Former CA member and Central Working Committee member Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said NC was confined to give reaction to the everyday changing remarks of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Though the debate on whether to revive the CA came to end one month ago, the NC leadership was still talking about the CA revival, falling under the duplicity of Maoist Chairman Dahal.
Dr Mahat argued that NC should stop talking on the issue of CA revival as there were slim chances of arriving at a consensus on contentious issues of new statue.
Another former NC leader Prakash Sharan Mahat criticized the party leadership for failing to have any concrete plan to resolve the current political deadlock. He alleged the party leadership of drama by sometimes talking about election and CA revival while at other times advocating streets protests.
NC former CA members including Dip Kumar Upadhyaya and Amod Kumar Upadhyaya argued that NC should decide to go for fresh CA election without any indecision or dilemma.
NC Vice President Ram Chandra Paudel informed that they have received a proposal from the Maoists to agree on 10-province federal model. Arguing that it is necessary to bring amendment in the interim constitution even to go for fresh election, NC has taken positively the Maoist proposal to revive the CA.
Talking to Republica, Shobhakar Parajuli, who is one of the former NC CA members actively advocating for the CA revival, said Paudel assured them that party leadership will take into account the demand of CA revival.
“We have also felt that CA revival would be the legitimate way to resolve the deadlock. Negotiations are moving to that end,” Parajuli quoted Paudel as saying.
A group of six NC lawmakers including Parajuli had held a separate meeting with Maoist Chairman Dahal in the evening. Dahal, according to Parajuli, said they can revive the CA with an agreement to resolve the remaining issues of contention to be resolved by the elected parliament later.
