In this frame grab from an undated militant video posted on the SITE Intelligence Group website, an Islamic State group militant, left, stands behind Palestinian Mohamed Said Ismail Musalam, moments before Musalam is killed by a boy who is also at the scene. The militant and boy featured in the video have been identified as French citizens, and investigators are looking into whether the militant is related to an extremist who attacked a Jewish school in southern France in 2012, an official told The Associated Press on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

LONDON, March 15: A former hostage who had been held in Syria by Islamic State extremists has described mock executions and other forms of psychological torture.

Spanish journalist Javier Espinosa wrote in the Sunday Times that militant Mohammed Emwazi played a lead role in the mock executions.Emwazi is the Londoner nicknamed Jihadi John who has played a central role in a series of beheading videos made in Syria.

Espinosa describes how the militants took pleasure in telling their hostages daily that they would be beheaded.

He said Emwazi used an antique sword for the mock executions and followed up by placing a Glock pistol against his head and pulling the trigger three times. Other hostages faced similar tactics.

Espinosa was released last March after being held hostage for more than six months.
