Police have arrested three persons in connection to the unauthorized selling of the land (19 kathha 14 dhur) worth about Rs 50 million and owned by Kamal Basnet of Bachhauli VDC-2.
Basnet said the land was his ancestral property.
"I was shocked when my neighbors called me to ask why I had decided to sell the land," said Basnet, who lives in Kathmandu, speaking to Republica on telephone.
"When I consulted the Land Survey Office in Chitwan, I found that the land was sold on January 27, 2016," said Basnet. "I have filed a case with the police."
Police said they have caught three persons suspecting their involvement in creating the fake documents for selling the land and using it to take out a loan of Rs 20 million from Jyoti Bikas Bank, Sundhara branch.
Polices sources said that Mer Singh Gharti of Baglung, and Durga KC and Bimala Thapa of Kathmandu have been detained in connection with the fraud and sent to custody for further investigation.
Basnet's land was transferred in the name of Mer Singh Gharti, according to the police.
