An executive committee meeting of the apex body of Nepali business community on Friday in Bhaktapur reached an eight-point decision to bail the business community out of the current unfavorable situation.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the FNCCI said the meeting also decided to ask the political parties to seek a way out of present impasse in the parliament, which has created a situation of indecisiveness for long time at a time when the country is reeling under frequent bandas, transport strikes and growing anarchy.
The meeting also expressed serious concern over resumption of ´scrap´ (kawari) tax system by the hooligans on the highways against the past understanding between the government and the FNCCI.
The FNCCI has also decided to put pressure on the government to adopt multiple VAT rates and give continuity to Youth and Small Entrepreneurs Self-Employment Program initiated by the earlier government. The meeting also decided to identify different organizations including Hydro Solution Pvt Ltd to carryout technical studies on constructing small and medium hydropower Projects as per agreement between the FNCCI and other agencies including the District Development Committees.
The meeting also entrusted Power Take Pvt Ltd with the responsibility of managing garbage problems in Kathmandu Valley as per the agreement among different stakeholders. At a time when the labor dispute is plaguing the business sector, the meeting also decided to develop Nagarkot as a labor dispute free tourist area and replicate it in other major tourist spots gradually in cooperation with trade unions, employers and the government.
The FNCCI also decided to make concrete efforts to develop commercial agriculture, handcraft and tourism in Bhaktapur district and widen the Tinkune-Suryavinayak stretch of the Araniko Highway.
The meeting also decided to ask the government and the bankers to provide loans at the earliest to the entrepreneurs who have already completed orientation training under the Youth and Small Entrepreneurs Self-Employment Program.
