Nobody was, however, seriously injured in the incident. The fire, which broke out in a house at Tundikhel chowk in Myanglung, which is jointly owned by Dil Bahadur Tamang and Kalpana Khadka, also partially damaged three houses in the vicinity, informed the District Police Office (DPO).
The fire broke out due to leakage of a LPG cylinder in a kitchen of a tenant. [break]
The DPO informed that properties of seven tenant families living in the house, and of those living in other three houses were destroyed in the fire.
The damaged property worth Rs. 11,111,500, includes clothes, jewelries, furniture and food grains.
According to the DPO, the three neighboring houses partially damaged by the fire are owned by Chandra Bahandur Bista, Yuwaraj Khanal and Dik Bahadur Karki.
Of the total displaced families, three families have sheltered at a public school, while the remaining families are living with their relatives.
DSP Balaram Pokharel informed that it took nearly three hours to put out the blaze. The fire broke out about 8.30 am.
Around 19 individuals have sustained minor injuries while trying to douse the fire, informed officials at the Red Cross Society in the district. The fire was joint put off by the Nepal Army, police and the locals.
