Fewer believe new constitution would adopt public feedbacks: Nagarik survey

KATHMANU, Aug 14: A survey conducted by Nagarik Research Bureau has found that most people did not believe that their suggestions would be incorporated in the new constitution. According to the survey, majority of them believed that the suggestions collected on the draft constitution will not find its way into the new constitution.

The survey conducted by the Nagarik Research Bureau (NRB) in 18 districts among some 600 people revealed that 52 percent of the respondents do not believe that their recommendations will be included in the constitution. Only 27 percent, the survey found, believed that their suggestions will be included in the constitution.

Likewise, some 17 percent respondents said that they don't know and 4 percent did not want to comment.

The respondents were given four options: Believe, Do not believe, Don't know and Don't want to say.

The Constituent Assembly (CA) had last month sent teams to all the constituencies throughout the country to collect people's suggestions on the draft constitution.

The CA is now in the process of finalizing the draft constitution.

The Nagarik Research Bureau had conducted survey in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Palpa, Gulmi, Arghakanchi, Baglung, Magdi, Parbat, and Banke.

The detailed report of the survey will be published on Monday in Nagarik and Republica.
