While it may be quite the norm to upload pictures of special days, one can also now see some disturbing pictures. This leads most of us to wonder why people post such things for the world to see.[break]
Shravan Kumar Luitel says, “It’s not for the first time that disturbing things are posted on Facebook. Every user wants maximum number of likes, shares and comments on things he posts which isn’t possible by posting normal stuffs: something abnormal is required. Hence they post disturbing contents. Also there’s nothing in this world that can universally be called “disturbing” which implies that what’s disturbing for one may be just the opposite for another.”
Some of us share the opinion that with the easy availability of creating new accounts, people find it easy to indulge in such things. Nirajan Pudasaini says, “I think those who do it are just passing their time. And they probably have fake IDs so they have nothing to lose.”
Sabak Bogati vents, “Nowadays people are taking Facebook for granted. I mean Facebook is all about connecting with loved ones, sharing your thoughts and ideas, which may be funny, emotional or informative. However, some people today who think they are smart to post different types of disturbing pictures which is really not smart of them at all. One person tagged me in an explicitly obscene picture which was a huge deal as I was in my sister’s office. It was very disturbing and shameful for me as there were many people in my friend’s list. So I would like to tell everyone who is engaged in these sorts of activities, ‘Get a life. Seriously, it’s not funny.
Instead, it’s cheap of you.’ I also dislike people who update weird statuses.”
In such cases, it is Maayurikaa Miharu’s advice which may sound wise:
“Actually, everybody has her own right to publish pictures on Facebook. So even though it’s quite disturbing, ignoring such posts as if we never saw them is what we can do,” she says.
Ignorance is surely bliss.
