KATHMANDU, Feb 1: An emergency cabinet meeting that was scheduled to take place Sunday afternoon has been postponed for Monday, said Minister for Industry Asta Laxmi Shakya.

The emergency cabinet meeting had been called to discuss the introduction of new ordinances. But the meeting was postponed after an understanding was reached on the need of a political agreement before taking any cabinet decision over such ordinances, Shakya said.

The government has been widely criticized for introducing three ordinances through the previous cabinet meeting.

Meanwhile, Minister for Foreign Affairs Upendra Yadav told journalists at Singha Durbar that the government had already revoked its previous decision of setting up government service centers in five districts in the Tarai – Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Sarlahi and Mahottari, our correspondent Kiran Chapagain said.

Yadav did not specify when the decision was revoked.
