Only two deceased -- Khagendra Shreshta, the van owner, of Phidim, Pachthar, and driver Shyam Ijam, of Fawakhola VDC in the district -- have been identified so far. [break]
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Govinda Prasad Acharya said five men and three women died in the accident. DSP Acharya also informed that four injured passenger have been referred to hospitals outside the district for the better treatment. The district hospital informed that all the patients needed extra treatment as most of them have sustained head injuries and are in critical condition.
According to the relatives of the injured passengers, the district hospital might refer all the patients to the hospital in others district as the x-ray machine has stopped working at the hospital and the power supply to the district remains interrupted for over a week.
