KATHMANDU, June 1: The European Economic Chamber (EEC) Nepal organized EEC-Nepal Evening on Saturday at Airport Hotel in Sinamangal to promote and publicize Nepali goods and services and to explore ways through which European products and services can be made more accessible to Nepalis.
Finance Minister Shankar Koirala inaugurated the EEC-Nepal Evening.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Koirala said that Nepalis dealing with European goods and services must make attempts to transfer technology from Europe to address the ongoing load-shedding problem that is hampering production units in Nepal. [break]
“As Europe is using best technologies, the private sector must invest to bring in such technologies to Nepal,” said Koirala.
Binayak Shah, president of the EEC Nepal, said the event was organized to provide platform to its members, as well as non-members, to showcase their goods and services, increase business contacts and strengthen relationship between Nepali and European companies.
Shah also said that the event was held to promote and publicize European companies and help them identify business and investment opportunities in Nepal.
The EEC Nepal is also organizing a business orientation program called ´Doing Business with Europe´ on Sunday to familiarize Nepali entrepreneurs to European business practices.
Around 20 stalls were set up at the event venue which showcased handicraft products, automobiles, pashmina products, and travel and education services, among others. Food festival was also organized at the venue to provide Nepalis an opportunity to experience European food culture.
