The police have also placed restriction on the use of microphones for campaigning as per the electoral code.
“The EC has directed the security agencies to act tough against the code violators,” said Inspector Mukunda Rijal of the Area Police Office, Dharan.
On Tuesday, the police had removed publicity materials from main market areas - Bhanu Chowk, Zero Point, Chataraline and the BP Foundation.
“We first warn the parties using loudspeakers and seize them if they remain defiant,” added Rijal.
Contrary to the code of conduct, the major political parties - UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are mostly organizing their campaigns in schools.
“It is unfortunate that the future representatives are ignoring the EC´s code of conduct,” said Yadav Dulal, a monitoring officer at the District Election Office.
In Biratagar, election monitoring teams of Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML in Morang district have complained that the authorities concerned are not taking action against even severe cases of code violation in the district.
Speaking at a press meet on Tuesday in Biratnagar they said that the silence of the Election Commission over the cases has triggered tension and scuffles between the parties in the region.
According to Dilip Sapkota, NC´s coordinator of the election monitoring committee in Morang, the UCPN-Maoist candidates are violating the code of conduct by using loud speakers and using schools for election campaign.
“However, the government and the Commission are not doing anything against it,” he added.
Meanwhile, Jhankanath Sharma, chief of the election office in Biratnagar, said that the commission would not spare anyone who violates the election code, but no case has been filed against such cases so far.
Despite the rise in the cases of the violation of electoral code, no complain has been filed till date in Rautahat and Jajarkot, too.
In a visible case of disobedience, the parties in Jajarkot have distributed T-shirts, jacket, caps printed with candidates´ name and photos.
Likewise, the news media are also found promoting particular parties.
However, the District Election Office, Jajarkot, said that the people might be scared to inform the office under pressure of the political parties.
“We have already given first warning to the parties and will soon swing into action if they do not correct their activities,” said Chief Election Officer (CEO) Bhuwan Thapa.
Similarly, Rautahat CEO Radha Krishna Upretti claimed that the parties and candidates have been verbally warned to follow the electoral code.
Meanwhile, the District Police Office has transferred five police personnel of Area Police Office of Kopawa, Ganga Pipaa and Pipara Rajwada after they were caught promoting some parties while they were on duty.
