EC recommends December 1 for local by-elections

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Election Commission (EC) has recommended holding by-elections on December 1 to fill the vacant positions in local levels.

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Election Commission (EC) has recommended holding by-elections on December 1 to fill the vacant positions in local levels. The proposed date was discussed during a meeting between Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and other officials on Sunday.

The by-elections aim to address vacancies for 41 local representatives, including two district coordination committee heads. Prime Minister Oli stated that the government would review the proposal and announce the date soon, stressing the need for free, fair, and peaceful elections.


Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal.
