Dr Khatiwada is a monetary economist, holding PhD from Delhi School of Economics.
He is widely regarded for his vast experience on country´s economic and development fields.
He served in Nepal Rastra Bank as Executive Director and looked after the research division for years.
He also holds an experience of serving as NPC member during 2002.
Known as a person close to CPN UML, his name was among the favorites for NRB Governor back in 2004.
He was working in UNDP Regional Center in Colombo, Sri Lanka, till very recently and had just returned to Nepal.
