Dr Bhattarai, Subedi injured while violating prohibited zone

KATHMANDU, June 5: Maoist senior leader Baburam Bhattarai and his party colleague in the Constituent Assembly Jhakku Prasad Subedi were injured in a clash with police at Maitighar Mandala on Friday, our correspondent Thira L Bhusal reported from the clash site.



The Maoists leaders were injured when the police stationed at Maitighar tried to prevent them from violating the prohibited zone orders. Maitighar Mandala is a prohibited zone.



Dr Bhattarai sustained a minor injury on his left leg and Subedi on his right thigh. Dr left the scene with his wife Hisila Yami in a taxi.



Meanwhile, traffic in the capital has been thrown out of gear by the Maoist-enforced chakka jam. TV channels reported that traffic movement in other cities and national highways have also been hit hard.



Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) have continued to launch street protests against President Dr Ram Baran Yadav´s move to reinstate army chief who was sacked by a Maoist cabinet. The case is sub-judice in the Supreme Court.
