Dozens injured in Khajura clash

BANKE, Aug 24: Khajura area of Banke district remained tense due to a clash between local residents and police on Wednesday.



The clash was ensued when the local residents demonstrated in Khajura area, demanding compensation to the family of the road accident. [break]



Around a dozen demonstrators were injured in the clash after police opened six rounds of fires and lobbed six rounds tear gas to disperse the crowd.



A three-year-old child was also injured in the clash. Some of the injured people are receiving treatment in local medical centers and few of them were referred to Nepalgunj.



The local residents disrupted Nepalgunj-Gulariya road section since early morning during the demonstration.



An additional force of police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Udaya Tamang, from District Police Office was sent to control the possible clash.



Meanwhile, the local business entrepreneurs have condemned the death and closed the market to mourn.
