Dos & Don'ts in Kathmandu

For this issue of The Week, Street Sense brings out some of the dos and don’ts from the streets of the Valley.[break]

Experimenting with colors is a definite do. The dude here has included three different colors – red, yellow, and khaki brown – and yet the color combination doesn’t give people sore eyes. The whole yellow and red color combo has been softened by a neutral khaki color. Wah-wah!

Whereas it’s sometimes better to play safe with colors, or it may be too loud. Pink and purple go well together, but here it’s overdone. So it’s a loud no-no.

The trend of carrying checkered umbrellas so omnipresent among Dharanali dudes has also started making its way to the Kathmandu Valley too. It’s a delightful imitation do!

Boyfriend dressing trend is ‘in’ and catching up. Therefore, a big hugging boy shirt is a big do. However, always remember to balance the look by pairing it up with something skinny at the lower part of the body, like the lady does here. Aha!

The Lily Allen’s way of sporting a one-piece dress with sneakers, like the girl out here has done, is a smart do. And so is the cool confidence to carry something as hot as it. Kudos!
