Do not hinder voter registration: PM

BIRATNAGAR, Oct 5: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has urged the political parties to stop obstructing the ongoing voter registration for a new voter ID card along with a photograph and thumb print.



Speaking at a press conference organized in Biratnagar on Tuesday, he called upon the Madhesh-based parties to stop creating obstructions by making voter registration a political issue. [break]



If there are any shortcomings in the Act relating to the development of voter ID card then that can be corrected through collective discussion, Nepal added, "As the voter ID card is associated with national identity it is baseless to obstruct it."



on the occasion, he also expressed the confidence that the new Government based on a national consensus would be formed after Dashain.



At the press meet organized by Press Chautari, Prime Minister Nepal announced that a probe would be carried out into the alleged irregularities in Purbanchal University.
