As per the deal, Dish Media will provide Rs 200,000 for the Sports Award and present the winners of all eight categories with Dish Home setup box and free recharge facility for six months. Similarly, Dish Home has also announced to provide the device and free recharge to five SMS voters of the Pulsar Popular Player of the Year award through a lucky draw. The Sports Award will be held on July 2.
Dish Media Director Sudip Acharya and NSJF President Ajay Phuyal signed the co-sponsorship deal amidst a function on Friday. Acharya expressed commitment to support the Sports Award in coming years also and hinted that the amount may increase in future.
"Our aim is to expand Dish Media service throughout the county while NSJF has been selflessly evaluating sports personalities and honoring them. We are planning to increase the sponsorship amount next year on the basis of the progress made by the company," Acharya said.
NSJF President Phuyal thanked Dish Media for the continuous support and expressed confidence that the partnership would continue in the years to come.
NSJF has already unveiled the nominees for the Popular Player of the Year award to be selected through SMS voting and number of Likes on the official Facebook page of NSJF. Cricketer Paras Khadka, footballer Jagjeet Shrestha, Jharana Gurung of wushu, Keshari Chaudhary of athletics and Sirish Gurung of swimming are the nominees for popular player.
NSJF Secretary Mahesh Acharya informed that the nominees for the best male and female player of the year, best youth player and best coach would be announced soon. "There will be no nominations for the special award, life time achievement award and para-athlete award and the winners will be declared during the award ceremony," said Acharya.
NSJF´s immediate past president Niranjan Rajbanshi opined that support from the corporate sector like Dish Media has contributed to the success of the awards.
Pulsar motorbike is the chief sponsor of the award ceremony being held annually for last 10 years.
