Demonstrators ban Swayambhu Yatayat buses

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Demonstrators banned the Swayambhu Yatayat buses on Monday.



The traffic came to a halt at the Mitrapart-Chabahil area of the Kathmandu ringroad after the demonstrators, mostly the students of the Pashupati Campus, protested the transport company. They demanded banning of all buses under the company for reckless driving in the wake of Sunday’s accident.[break]



On Sunday evening, two women were killed and three others were injured by a bus of registration number Ba 2 Kha 593 hit them in front of the Om Hospital.



Dambar Kumari Nepali, 65, died on the spot while Reeta Basyal, 32, of Palpa died while undergoing treatment at the Intesive Care Unit (ICU) of Om Hospital Sunday night.



Police opened the road requesting the transport company to stop all its services.



On Sunday evening, the locals set fire on three buses and clashed with the police at Chabahil.
