Lalita Sunar of Ramghat in Surkhet was thrashed by the girl"s maternal uncle Bhim Bhadur Rawat, who is also a police sub-inspector. The girl Anita Shahi, of Ramghat-5, eloped with Sunar"s son Shiva Raj on Wednesday.
“They manhandled and kicked me saying I had hidden my son and their daughter,” said Sunar, who is undergoing treatment at the mid western regional hospital. “I was beaten unconscious,” she said.
According to Superintendent of Police Bishwaniranjan Pradhan, sub-inspector Rawat, who allegedly thrashed Sunar, had gone home on leave.
“We are investigating into the incident. We have received complaints from the girl"s relatives,” SP Pradhan added.
