The outage happened after the power supply tripped along the Butwal-Bardaghat transmission line subsequently creating problem in the national grid, Sher Singh Bhat, Director of System Operations at Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) told the Republica.
There was no disturbance in some districts in the far-western region as electricity is supplied separately from Tanakpur transmission. But, about 95 percent of power supply in the country was disrupted for an hour, he said.
The sudden power outage sparked furor among the public.
As per NEA´s new power cut schedule, there is a 45 hours per week power outage in the country.
