Corporate cricket kicks off<br/>Citizen Bank start with win

KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Citizen Int´l Bank defeated Nepal Investment Bank by 16 runs in the Soaltee Crowne Plaza Super Sixes corporate cricket tournament that kicked off Tuesday at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. [break]



Amit Khanal top-scored with 31 runs (retired) and Sarad Pokharel contributed 13 runs (unbeaten) as Citizen, which elected to bat first, accumulated 62 runs for two wickets in five overs and in reply restricted Investment Bank to 46-2 in the allotted overs.







In another match, Spice Nepal thrashed Sunrise Bank, which elected to bat, by five wickets. Sunrise piled up 36 runs for four wickets. In reply, Spice Nepal achieved the target in 2.2 overs, losing one wicket. Santosh Shrestha smashed 17 runs for the winning side.



Likewise, Himalayan Bank crushed Bank of Asia by six wickets. Opting to bat, Bank of Asian piled up 40 runs, losing four wickets. Pujan Baidya (15) and Abin Raj Joshi (12) contributed for the team. In response, the opening partnership of Siddhartha Sharma (20) and Raj Shrestha (18) of Himalayan Bank guided the team towards victory.



Similarly, electing to bat, Indian Embassy, which piled up 68 runs losing two wickets, bundled out New Business Age for 19 runs in 4.4 wickets to register a mammoth 49-runs victory. Arjan Singh (26) and Alok Kumar (13) contributed for the winning side.







In another match, Laxmi Bank defeated Team Samsung by 24 runs. Invited to bat first Laxmi garnered 69 runs losing one wicket and in reply restricted Samsung for 45 runs for the loss one wicket. Sabal Rimal (17) and Basanta Ghimire (13) contributed for the winning side.



In the last match of the day, NIC bank inviting Kumari Bank to bat first, beat it by six wickets. Kumari piled up 43 runs without losing a wicket. In reply NIC made 46 runs in 4.3 overs. Sujan Rai added 21 runs for NIC.
