“We have decided to start construction works by mobilizing the army soon, as the private sector showed no interest in our invitation to take over the project,” Pandey said. Pandey, who was in Birgunj to interact with the business community there, said the government was seriously working to lay down key economic infrastructures and asked the private sector and other political parties to cooperate.
Referring to the activists of the political parties, Pandey suggested them to involve in constructive works instead of expecting benefits from their affiliation with political and other organizations.
“Being a ´whole timer´ of a political party and limiting oneself to the interest of the party do not help in country´s development,” stated Pandey.
Speaking on the occasion, Pandey assured individual and industrial security for the business community. “The security package that the Home Ministry is unveiling will address all security related concerns of the entrepreneurs,” he said, adding that government was serious working to create conducive environment for business activities.
Pandey also requested the private sector and local communities to be positive on special economic zone that the government is developing in Simara in the vicinity of Birgunj. He also stated that the government was not positive towards resuming operations of now defunct Birgunj Sugar factory, Agricultural Inputs Company and Hetauda Textile.
“These companies failed because of their own inefficiency and poor performance. How can the government sustain them?” he questioned.
