According to the Reporters Club, Khanal made the statement while speaking at The RD Show, a talk show to be aired Saturday night on the Himalayan Television.[break]
Ruling out the possibility of forming a consensus government by mid-October, he however, expressed his hope of forging consensus following discussions with other political parties during Dashain and Tihar, which would eventually lead to the formation of the national consensus government by mid-November.
During the recorded interview, he also said that the proposal to promulgate the constitution by keeping the contentious issues in the annex of the constitution was first floated by the UML and Nepali Congress, which was later on proposed by UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Stating that the Maoist chair has been fluctuating in his stance time and again, Khanal, during the show, also expressed his fears that Dahal would not remain true to his words after his return from Belgium.
Underlining that the ruling Maoist should pave way for formation of consensus government and terming Baburam Bhattarai-led government as most corrupt and unsuccessful, UML Chairman Khanal also warned to oust the incumbent government through protest, should the party be an obstacle for formation of consensus government, the Reporters Club said.
