"The current political deadlock should be broken by forming a national consensus government of political parties. Nationalist forces should come to a meeting point," said Gurung. He also alleged that the major parties including the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the United Democratic Madhesi Front are on an anti-national course on cue from their foreign masters.
CPN-Maoist has called general shutdown demanding scrapping of all cases of the insurgency-era involving the Maoist cadres including the Dekendra Thapa murder case.
The party has also demanded immediate release of its cadres who are in jail. Cadres of ruling UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-Maoist have been arrested in the Thapa murder case.
