The CIAA on Friday filed a chargesheet at the Special Court against 12 officials of the department, 19 manpower agencies, a broker and a printing press proprietor for allegedly forging documents to get work permits issued for migrant workers.
In the chargesheet, the CIAA has demanded maximum punishment and sought Rs 3.3 million from the accused.
Issuing a press statement, it said that the accused DoFE officials were issuing work permits to migrant workers relying on fake documents taking bribes from manpower agencies.
The CIAA said that it investigated documents submitted by 102 manpower agencies, out of which 47 were found to be using fake documents and overcharging foreign employment aspirants.
The anti-graft body also recommended the department to take action against the manpower agencies.
