Chunara loses to German opponent

KATHMANDU: Nepali taekwondo player Gyani Chunara on Sunday lost 10-6 to Germany´s Froemming Anna in the first match of women´s 57 kg category in the 21st World Taekwondo Championship being held in Puebla, Mexico. Chunara took a 3-0 lead at the end of the first round but Anna scored five points in the second round to level the scores at 5-5. [break]



The German then scored five more points in the final two rounds, while Chunara scored only one. Earlier, Ranjan Shrestha (men´s 58 kg) and Arun Adhikari (men´s 54 kg) won their first matches but suffered defeats in the second stage of the championship. "She put up a good fight but she showed inexperience and could not maintain her lead," coach Deepak Bista told Republica.
