Chinese, Nepali workers clash

SINDUPALCHOWK, June 17: At least 13 workers --10 Chinese and three Nepali -- employed at Melamchi Drinking Water Project were injured in a clash on Wednesday night.



The clash ensued after a gang of five to six men led by driver Laxman Tamang attacked the Chinese camp at Kawale of Thakani VDC. It has been learnt Tamang attacked the Chinese workers to take revenge over their decision to fire him from his post.



The injured are receiving treatment at TU Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, DSP Ajay Bhattarai informed.



The clash has spread panic among the Chinese workers. Thirty Chinese workers are employed in the project.
