KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee (PBAC) has decided to hold election for Constitutional Committee Chairperson on August 28. Earlier it was scheduled for Monday.

A meeting of the PBAC held at Singh Durbar Sunday morning took a decision to this effect as per the request made by three major political parties.

A formal announcement of the deferral of the election was made at Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting Sunday afternoon.

On Saturday, chief whips of Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had requested CA Chair Subash Nembang to defer the election as the parties failed to pick a consensus candidate for the post.

The post of CC Chair has remained vacant since May 23 after the then chair Madhav Kumar Nepal got elected as Prime Minister on May 23.
