The new casino, which will be opened at Ratna Hotel in Mahendra Chowk, will have all the facilities that other gambling spots in other places of the country have.
"Biratnagar is the largest transit point for foreigners entering Nepal from the eastern part of the country," Rewat Thapa, promoter of Ratna Hotel, said. "We hope the casino will cater to the needs of tourists who want to indulge in gaming activities during their stay here. And due to Biratnagar´s proximity to the Indian border, this could also be one of the means of earning Indian currency."
According to Roshan Thapa, managing director of Ratna Hotel, the casino will come into operation soon after the Tihar festival. "We have almost completed preparations for the opening," he said.
The new casino in Biratnagar is being opened by CMG Gaming Group. It has recently received permission from the government to open casinos in three places in the country. The group will open other two casinos in Vaishali Hotel in Kathmandu and in a hotel in Pokhara.
