Cases against innocent on Tikapur incident will be withdrawn: DPM Gachchhadar

DHANGADHI, March 6: Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said the government would withdraw the cases filed against people innocent on Tikapur incident.

At a news conference organized here Sunday, DPM Gachchhadar, who is also the Chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) argued that it has been late to withdraw the cases filed against the people innocent regarding the incident.


"Although Tikapur incident was very hurtful, innocent people should not be punished," he underscored.

Moreover, the DPM said that the government would release the report submitted by the probe team formed to carryout investigation into the incident and added that the government was going to provide compensation to the victims of Tarai-Madhes and Tharuhat agitations.

A total of eight people including seven police personnel and a minor were killed in Tikapur incident in course of a demonstration staged by the cadres closed to the Tharuhat last August. RSS
