KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Primax International, the sole authorized distributor of Canon in Nepal is all set to introduce first mirrorless interchangeable lens digital camera - Canon EOS M in the Nepali market. According to the company the camera will hit the market before Dashain i.e. within mid October.
To complement the camera, the company will also be launching new range of lenses EF M and mount adapter EF-EOS M.
“We are very excited to introduce EOS M in the Nepali market as it is the first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera from Canon and it has been doing good in the countries where it has already been launched,” said Dinesh Agarwal, marketing manager of Primax International.[break]
The EOS M features a compact, magnesium-alloy body and comes with full compatibility with new and existing EF and EF-S lenses with adapter. It has a hot shoe on the top plate as it does not have built-in flash. The users of the camera have to compose the picture using the camera´s rear screen as it does not have built-in viewfinder.
According to the company, EOS M is constructed with the same high-tech components found in EOS DSLR cameras. The camera is a combination of a large 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC 5 image processor. “The increased sensitivity of the large sensor and the rapid processing speeds of the DIGIC 5 work in tandem to produce high quality images with rich color gradation and better background blur, as well as high ISO sensitivity of up to 12800 which is expandable up to ISO 25600,” said Agarwal.
The camera also allows the users to shoot professional-looking Full HD videos.
According to the company the camera with 3 inch multi touch, touch-screen is available in three different packages which include additional accessories. EOS M will be available in four different colors: black, white, silver and red. The camera is priced at $ 800 with 22 mm lens in the international market however Agarwal said that the price of the camera is not yet fixed in the Nepali market.
