Speaking at a press conference organized by Madheshi Journalist Society in Birgunj, Mahato said, “Political parties have the right to protest in a democracy. We do not have any problems with any party protesting the poll process.” He also said that his party was ready to accept the threshold provision for seats under proportion representation electoral system if the number of seats in the CA remains unchanged. Mahato also ruled out influence of international forces in the internal affairs of the country. “International actors do not have any role in the current state of political affairs in the country,” he said.
Mahato also claimed that Chairman of the Madheshi People´s Right Forum (Democratic) Bijay Kumar Gachhedar is no longer a leader of the Madhesi people. “Gachhedar is a self-anointed leader of the Madheshi Morcha”.
Meanwhile, Gachhedar has said that the election to the Constituent Assembly (CA) would be held by the first week of November.
Addressing a function at Odari, Kapilbastu, Gachhedar said, “We have been making preparations for the polls and government will announce a date for CA election soon enough.” More than 200 cadres of various parties joined MPRF(D) during the function.
