Bus plunges into Sunkoshi; One killed, 12 injured

SINDHUPALCHOWK, Nov 13: A Kathmandu-bound passenger bus from Tatopani of Sindhupalchowk district fell some 20 meters down from the road into the Sunkoshi River Sunday morning, killing a person and injuring a dozen others.



The mishap occurred near Sukute along the Araniko Highway at around 7:15am after the bus (Ba 2 Kha 2259) lost control while trying to avoid hitting a motorcycle (Ba 46 Pa 8222) coming on the wrong side from the opposite direction. [break]



The deceased has been identified as motorcyclist Arjun Khadka of Lokthang-2 of Dolakha. He died while undergoing treatment at Sadabahar Hospital in Khadichaur of the district.



Of the injured, four are receiving treatment at the same hospital, while the rest have been taken to Kathmandu for treatment. Police said there were at least 40 passengers traveling on the bus.
