'Budget will be investment friendly'

BIRATNAGAR, May 19: Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala said on Sunday the main focus of the upcoming budeget will be to create investment friendly environment in the country.



“We will announce programs to create environment conducive for investment and industrial development in the country by incorporating suggestions from the private sector,” Koirala said at an interaction with local business entrepreneurs in Biratnagar on Sunday. [break]



The interaction was jointly organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and Morang Merchants´ Association to collect suggestions from private sector for the upcoming budget.



Speaking on the occasion, Suraj Vaidya, president of FNCCI, asked the government to incorporate suggestions made by the private sector in the upcoming budget.



On the occasion, local business leaders drew attention of the government toward increasing insecurity, prolonged energy crisis, exorbitant bank interest rates, extortion by different political parties and frequent banda and strikes.



They also demanded that the government announce different incentives in the budget to increase production and exports of agriculture products, arrange concessional loan for entrepreneur and establish industrial exhibition centers in each development region.
