The event also aimed at promoting Nepal as a tourist destination in view of the diamond jubilee of the first ascent of the world’s highest peak, Mt Everest. [break]
The event was inaugurated jointly by Nepal’s ambassador to Israel Prahlad Kumar Prasai, Myanmar’s ambassador to Israel Myo Aye, Sri Lanak’s ambassador to Israel Sarath Devasena Wijesinghe and deputy chief of the mission of Thai embassy in Israel Suchart Liengsaengthong, according to a press statement issued by the Nepalese embassy in Israel.
While addressing the function, Nepalese envoy Prasain highlighted on the glory of birthplace of Lord Buddha, Lumbini and urged the Israeli people to visit Lumbini among other places of Nepal. He also emphasized that Buddha’s message of compassion and devotion to the service of humanity is more relevant today than any other time in the history.
Prasain added that Nepal is a center of attraction not only for young people but also for people of all ages and interests. He also informed that Nepal was organizing various programs both back home and at its embassies abroad to mark the diamond jubilee of the first ascent of man’s ascent of the world’s tallest peak.
An Israeli operator of social networks Dani Abrahami had made a comprehensive power point presentation on his experiences about tourism attractions in Nepal. The first Israeli to climb Mt. Everest also shared his experiences. Similarly, Nadav Ben Yehuda, who rescued a Turkish climber from Mt Everest after he abandoned his plan to scale 8,848 meters high peak, also shared his experiences of climbing the world’s tallest peak.
Nepalese embassy’s second secretary Roshan Khanal made presentation on life and teachings of Buddha, while Hari Prasad Prasain, attache at the embassy, made a brief presentation on the history of Mt Everest ascent. The Nepalese community living in Israel had performed cultural and traditional dances and songs on the occasion.
